What is Natural wine? Read to find out all about what makes a wine natural.
The domaine is located in the village of St Andre de Sangonis, 30kms N.W Montpellier. Jean-Yves Chaperon and his wife Nicole Michel created this small but perfectly formed 7.8-hectare vineyard in Terrasses du Larzac in Languedoc back in 2005. The terroir here comprises many large rolled pebbles stones that act as night storage heaters by absorbing the heat of the day and radiating it back on to the vines at night. The area also benefits from a high thermal daily temperature amplitude and a frequent north wind that helps retain sufficient acidity in the finished wines. Those conditions endow Jean-Yves’ wines with excellent fruit maturity, excellent structure and a telling, welcome freshness at the same time. All grapes are hand-harvested, followed by gentle gravity flow winemaking. The domaine gained Organic Ecocert certification in 2012.
