The Chevallier family has been making wine in the Libourne area on Bordeaux's right bank since 1850. The fifth generation of the family is represented today by the two brother Eric and Richard whio purchased Chateau La Fleur de Viaud in 1996. The 7 hectares (17 acres) of the vineyard at the estate lie on the sand and gravel soils and are located in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation.
The brothers ensure that each plot of their vines is harvesterd at optimal maturity and vinified separately using the most sensitive and appropriate techniques, in order to maximise the complexities of their terroir. The wines for the Cuvee Etolieare then gently and calmly matured in concrete vats.
