Chakana Estate

Chakana Estate is located south of Mendoza in Agrelo, Lujan de Cuoy.  Its goal is to produce wines that show the identity and character of the Andean soils.  Chakana wines are based on very little human intervention and rely on minimal addition of sulphur and the use of natural yeasts.  The vineyard started a conversion process to transform its production to organic ad biodynamic methods in 2012.  In 2014 it was certified organic and by 2016 certified Biodynamic.

A ripe, fleshy style with full-bodied layers of crushed plum and framed by fruitcake and a lingering expresso note.

“Blended from lots of different plots in Chakana’s Agrelo holdings, this is a great value Malbec that has backed off on both the oak and alcohol in recent years. Perfumed and well balanced, it’s an elegant, refined red with a streak of greenness adding freshness to the finish.” Tim Atkin
