What is Natural wine? Read to find out all about what makes a wine natural.
My name is Charlie O'Brien and I am the "Noisemaker" for the label Silent Noise. I grew up at Kangarilla Road Winery and love everything about making wine. The name Silent Noise comes from my excitement as a small child surrounding the noise of tractors, trucks and everything machinery to do with viticulture and winemaking. The noise stops when the wine is made and it sits silently in the bottle waiting to explode with a different kind of noise when the wine hits the nose and mouth.
I finished school four years ago and have worked vintages in McLaren Vale at Gemtree, Kangarilla Road and Yangarra Estate. completed vintage with Pikes in Clare Valley who have won Australia’s No 1 Riesling two consecutive years. I have worded in France at Domaine Astruc which is part of the Paul Mas company in the languedoc where I was in charge of outgoing finished wine and red fermentation throughout the harvest duration. My most recent French vintage was at Chateau Haut Bailly in Bordeaux. I lived on the vineyard for 3 months working on vineyard management and then in the cellar looking after the red fermentation. I was also part of the winery first ever attempt at making Rosé for the 2019 Vintage.
In the winter of 2017 I worked with Sentier who are a vineyard maintenance company that specialise in Organic/Biodynamic practices in McLaren Vale work out more sustainable and affective ways to look after a vineyard.
