Grandson of a local winegrower, Jean-François Jacouton founded this small five-hectare domaine in 2010 in Vion to the north of the town of Tournon. He has only recently been joined by his son Hugo.
The steep, terraced vineyards need a lot of hard work, necessitating all viticultural work to be done by hand, as tractors and machines can’t get anywhere near the vertiginous slopes. The view down on the Rhône river valley from these granite stony hills is simply breathtaking. Sun, stone and Rhône combine to produce ripe fruits with a lot of minerality, fragrance and freshness. A small family producer passionate about his terroir and his native land, Jean-François ticks all the boxes to merit joining Wine Story’s family.
