Chardonnay - possibly one of the most well know grapes around the world. It's homeland being Burgundy in France, however it is now grown across the globe.
This variety itself is quite a neutral style displaying classic varietal flavours of citrus and green apple with a moderate acidity and medium body and alcohol.
Different terroirs, viticulture and climate have a major role to play in the end result of this variety - for instance cool climates lean towards the green citrus flavours, if the terroir has chalk, or pebbles hints of minerality come through.
Warm climates especially in the New World wine regions display flavours of more exotic fruits with more body and alcohol or if aged in oak can give buttery more creamy styles.
