A scrumptious 2016 vintage of 50% Merlot and 50% Malbec.
This unusual blend leads to a wine packed with flavour and being a perfect gift for anyone who wants to try different styles.
The plot is located in the hamlet of Faurie, just several hundred meters north of the Saint-Emilion village itself.
The vineyard is split between the Faurie plot, close to the cellar, featuring sandy and iron oxide soils, and other plots, including 100 year old vines in the Saint-Christophe des Bardes village, based on clay and chalky soils. The vineyard’s planting consist of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec grapes.
The vineyard has refrained from the use of pesticides for years, there is a layer of grass between the raw vine and sheep are used as natural lawn mowers to contain the growth. The vineyard is the process of converting to full organic and has already received HVE certification. The use of a short maceration and ageing process produce a traditional Saint-Emilion with medium body that is ideal when paired with roast meat and duck breast.
