Biodynamic Wine
Biodynamic Wine is created without common manipulations such as yeast additions or acidity adjustments. Sulphites are used but at an even lower level than in Organic wines. This style of agriculture was developed in the 1920’s by Rudolph Steiner whose approach to growing produce was carried out in a more holistic way. Biodynamic winemakers look at the vineyard as a complete ecosystem. Factors such as astrological influences and lunar cycles combined with promoting the life of the soil, and the organisms within, through the application of specially prepared composts and animal products all lead to bio-diverse and sustainable vineyards producing higher quality wines with a unique sense of place. Nowadays there are around 700 biodynamic winemakers across the globe.
