The term ‘orange wine’ describes a subset of natural wines made with white grapes. Wines are fermented with their skins like red wines (orange wines are often referred to as skin contact white wines). The result is a wine that has been dyed orange from the lignin in the seeds. Orange wine have tannin and body like red wines. Orange wine is said to have originated in Georgia where it was known as Amber Wine.
